我們來聽聽這個故事吧! 一位長老發心供養食物,他知道通常會有大菩薩的化身來接受供養。 於是他在殿內設了一個高座,希望有大菩薩來受供養。 他期望見到文殊菩薩或彌勒菩薩。 他連續守著這個高座七日,卻始終沒有見到菩薩。 但每天都會有一個又醜又髒的老頭過來。 他來的時候,哪兒也沒去,直接走到高座上,坐在了大廳正中的椅子上。 長老們每天把他拉下來,讓他吃完飯,然後送他走。 老人沒有別的要求,他每天用齋完就離開了。 七日過去了,長老們卻不見文殊菩薩或其他菩薩前來受供。 他非常失望。 晚上睡覺的時候,聽到有人對他說:“你要見的文殊菩薩是一位坐在高座上的老人,你卻把菩薩帶下來了。” 哇! 老長老聞言一愣,知道自己錯過了拜見菩薩的機會。 因為他相信文殊菩薩一定很莊嚴,所以他以執著和分別心等待菩薩。 所以當你等著看到菩薩的時候,菩薩其實已經來了,可惜你看了之後卻不認識他! 你看到他,就是不認識他。 菩薩就在你面前,你卻錯過了。 可見執著與分別是很重的無明!
Let’s listen the story. An elder decided to offer food, and he knew that there would usually be an incarnation of a great Bodhisattva to accept the offering. So he set up a high seat in the Hall, hoping that a great bodhisattva would come to accept offerings. He expects to see Manjushri bodhisattva or Maitreya bodhisattva. He guarded this high seat for seven consecutive days, but he never saw the Bodhisattva. But every day an ugly and dirty old man comes over. When he came, he didn’t go anywhere, he went directly to the high seat and sat on the chair in the middle of the Hall. The elders pulled him down every day, let him finish his meal, and then sent him away. The old man had no other request, and left after fasting every day. Seven days passed, but the elders did not see Manjushri or other Bodhisattvas coming to accept offerings. He was very disappointed. When he was sleeping at night, he heard someone say to him: “The Manjushri Bodhisattva you want to see is an old man sitting on a high seat, but you brought the Bodhisattva down.” Wow! The old elder was taken aback when he heard the words, knowing that he had missed the opportunity to meet the Bodhisattva. Because he believed that Manjusri Bodhisattva must be very solemn, so he had attachment and discrimination, and waited for Bodhisattva. So when you are waiting to see the Bodhisattva, the Bodhisattva has actually come, but unfortunately you don’t know him after watching him! If you see him, you don’t know him. The Bodhisattva is right in front of you, but you miss it. It can be seen that attachment and distinctions are very heavy ignorance!
我們每一個人都有分別、妄想、執著,大家都有無明了。無明是輕的?還是重的? 佛陀過去用種種的譬喻來引導眾生,告訴我們用佛性來証得真如的實質。如果要消除無明執著,必定要從離相開始著手,不能分別這個相,這樣才能夠背塵合覺,(即迷途知返,返迷歸悟,志求解脱,成佛成聖)。對於凡夫衆生多貪戀塵世,不思解脱,甘愿輪回。有背離真覺合塵勞,而顯發纷纷擾擾的世间相。大家把真誠心,慈悲心顯現出來,不能有妄想分別,否則見到菩薩也會白白錯過了。
Each of us has distinctions, delusions, and attachments, and we all have ignorance. Is ignorance light? Still heavy? The Buddha used various metaphors to guide sentient beings in the past, telling us to use the Buddha-nature to realize the essence of truth. If you want to eliminate the attachment to ignorance, you must start from the “separation of appearance”, and you cannot distinguish this appearance, so that you can turn back the dust and unite with enlightenment (that is, know the return from the wrong way, return to enlightenment, seek liberation, become a Buddha and become a saint). For ordinary beings, they are more greedy for the world, do not think about liberation, and are willing to reincarnate. There is a worldly appearance that deviates from the true sense and combines dust and labor, and shows disturbances in the world. Let us show our sincerity and compassion, and we must not have delusions and distinctions, otherwise we will miss the Bodhisattva in vain.
“無明”的幫兇,主要有貪食,民以食爲天。飲食越精美,色香俱全,就覺得越好味,不斷地追求怎樣去補養了,不惜身命,花費錢財去殺生。
The accomplices of “ignorance” are mainly gluttony, and people regard food as their heaven. The more exquisite the diet, the more delicious the food is, the better it tastes. they are constantly pursuing how to nourish themself, and they don’t hesitate to spend their life and money to kill animals.
第二個是好色心重,把我們第一個幫兇”貪吃”給戒斷了。戒斷後,色欲又出來了。男人女人都喜歡色,漂亮美麗的異性,這就是好色的心。
The second one is lustful, and we quit our first accomplice “gluttony”. After withdrawal, lust came out again. Both men and women like lust, beautiful opposite sex, this is a lustful mind.
“無明”為何總也不能破,煩惱總也不斷呢?智慧為什麼不現前呢?就因為我們貪吃、好色。有了食欲就想到色了,所以男好女色,女好男色,所謂物傷迷亂者。色欲出來了就不顧身命了,色字頭上一把刀,就把我們斬死了。俗語說:「飽暖思淫欲,飢腸起盜心。」穿暖吃飽就容易思淫褻的事,如果窮困,就想去偷盜,這就是人類的通病。 我們吃素,以健康的精神去精進念佛,但很少人有這樣的想法。所以經常受持八關齋戒,來對治我們的無明,那是最好的一個方法。出家人在吃喝的方面越簡單越好,不需要過份的營養要求。「正事良藥,爲療形枯;爲成道業,故受此食。」修行人防止産生貪食美味的念頭,對飯食只作爲療飢的藥,为修道證悟而受食。
Why can’t “ignorance” be broken, but troubles are always there? Why does wisdom not exist? Just because we are greedy and lustful. When you are full, you will think about sexual desire again, so the sexual desire between men and women likes each other, so that things hurt others. When desire comes out, we don’t care about our own lives. It’s like a knife stuck in a person’s head, and he died immediately. As the saying goes: “When you are warm and full, you think about lust, but when you are hungry, you start stealing.” When you wear warm clothes and eat enough, you tend to think about obscene things. If you are poor, you want to steal. This is a common problem among human beings. We are vegetarians and diligently chant Buddha’s name with a healthy spirit, but few people have such thoughts. Therefore, it is the best way to deal with our ignorance by regularly observing the eight precepts. The simpler the food and drink for monks, the better, and there is no need for excessive nutritional requirements. “It’s good medicine, it’s for curing dryness; it’s for enlightenment, so I accept this food.” Practitioners avoid the idea of gluttony and delicious food, and only use food as a medicine for hunger, and accept food as for enlightenment.
廣欽老和尚,他對財色絕對不貪,人家供養他的,他連看都不看。別人對財色都很貪,而他一點都不貪。他把這些東西都放在一邊,讓誰需要都可以拿走,他看都不看,有些徒弟偷了些錢就走了,他也不管。別人告訴他,他卻說如果他喜歡就讓他拿吧。他不會管,他平常只是吃水果、花生,不吃有味的食物。他的修行已經不入色聲香味觸法了。他的修行很有感應,所以認識他的人都知道他是一位有德行的修行人。有些不認識他的人,就會說他是騙子,懷疑他怎麼只吃水果啊?因為他的身體不好,後來他加吃粥水了,這時候又有人批評他了:「你不是只吃花生水果嗎?不吃有味的東西嗎?為什麼現在又吃粥了呢?」以為他是墮落了。其實那是人們對他誤解了。
Master Guangqin, he is absolutely not greedy for money and sex, and he doesn’t even look at what is offered to him. Others are very greedy for money and sex, but he is not greedy at all. He put all these things aside so that anyone who needed them could take them away. He didn’t even look at them. Some disciples stole some money and left, but he didn’t care. Someone told him, but he said that if he likes it, let him take it. He doesn’t care, he usually just eats fruits and peanuts, and doesn’t eat flavorful food.
人有錯誤的認知,就起無明。其實,修行人不用注重吃好的,穿好的,住好的地方。吃的方面,只要不是吃一些垃圾食品。不需要太講究,不要把自己的身體搞得肥腫難分。 所以我們只要能夠維持四大和合的身體,能夠好好的活著就可以了。我們需要的是什麼?需要的是無上的微妙法,每天都聽經,能夠講經說法,這是我們所需要的。同學們需要什麼?需要聽經,需要勇猛精進的修行。不要懶惰,一有空就聽,聽三遍五遍七遍乃至十遍。你們聽經不是給別人聽的,是你自己需要聽。如果你覺得自己都懂了什麼都不用聽了,那其實很可憐。因為你什麼都不懂,懂的也只是世智辯聰,不是真正的懂。學法是為自己,不是為師父,為父母學,也不是為朋友。所以大家不要會錯意了。不是為了給菩薩聽而讀經。那是給自己讀,是為自己而學。所以不要白白的把時間光陰空過,將來會後悔的。 現在年輕人甚至放棄了領畢業証書,專門做出一些叛逆父母意思的事等等,因為他們誤會父母的關心,變成是父母的愛榮譽的私心,管束和壓迫他們去做父母想做的事,這太令父母痛心欲絶了!
People have erroneous cognition, and they have ignorance. In fact, practitioners don’t need to pay attention to eating well, dressing well, and living in a good place. In terms of food, as long as you don’t eat some junk food. You don’t need to be too particular, don’t make your body fat and swollen. So as long as we can maintain the body of the harmony of the four elements, we can live well.
What do we need? What we needed is the supreme subtle law, listening to the scriptures every day, and being able to preach the scriptures, this is what we need. What do students need? You need to listen to the scriptures, and you need to practice bravely and diligently. Don’t be lazy, listen to it whenever you have time, three times, five times, seven times or even ten times.
You do not listen to the scriptures for others, but you need to listen to them for yourself. If you think you know everything and don’t need to listen, that’s actually very pitiful. Because you don’t understand anything, all you understand is worldly wisdom and arguments, not real understanding. Study is for yourself, not for your master, not for your parents, or for your friends. So don’t get it wrong!It is not about reading scriptures to Bodhisattvas. That is to read for yourself and learn for yourself.
So don’t waste your time, you will regret it in the future. Even young people give up receiving graduation certificates, and do things that rebel against their parents’ wishes, etc., because they misunderstand their parents’ concern, and become selfish parents’ love of honor, controlling and oppressing them to do what their parents want , This is so heartbreaking for parents!
無明中的情愛會令我們顛倒。尤其是男女之間,或者家親眷屬之間,那些恩愛情慾,都以為是真實的,所有才會有愛別離苦。離不開,舍不掉;放不下,糾纏不清。放不下六親眷屬搞得自己善惡夾雜,染凈不分。生生世世將在輪回中打轉,永無了期。無明就是輪回的根本。
Eros in ignorance can turn us upside down. Especially between men and women, or between family members and relatives, those love and desires are all believed to be real, and all will have the pain of love and parting. Can’t leave, can’t let go; can’t let go, can’t be entangled. We can’t let go of our relatives, so we make ourselves mixed with good and evil, and we can’t distinguish between clean and dirty. Life after life will in the cycle of reincarnation, never ending. Ignorance is the root of samsara.
修道人如果沒有無明的累贅就很清淨解脫,所以不要和無明打交道,要跟它一刀兩斷,這樣就把地獄餓鬼畜生,種種惡趣的路斷開了。如果下了地獄就會後悔為什麼生前不精進修道呢?到那時候就來不及了。 我們現在能夠及時修道,但是不要有僥倖的心,來日方長的想法。「我現在每天還在念佛啊!我還有時間在念佛!」不要這樣想。莫待老來方學道,孤墳盡是少年人呵!我們學一天佛,念一天佛,你就跟淨土阿彌陀佛靠近一點。沒有勤修的人,缺乏信願行的人難生淨土。
If a practitioner has no burden of ignorance, he is pure and liberated, so don’t deal with ignorance, but break with it completely. In this way, hell, hungry ghosts, animals, and all evil ways can be broken. If you go to hell, you will regret it. Why didn’t you practice diligently during your lifetime? By then it will be too late. We can practice in time now, but don’t have the idea of fluke, and the future will be long. “I am still reciting Buddha’s name every day! I still have time to recite Buddha’s name!” Don’t think like this. Don’t wait until you are old to learn how to practice, the lonely grave is full of young people! If we study the Buddha for one day and recite the Buddha for one day, you will be a little closer to the Pure Land Amitabha Buddha. Those who do not practice diligently and those who lack faith, vows and deeds will hardly be born in the Pure Land.
人道中的輪迴過程,包括無明,行,識,名色,六入,觸,受,愛,取,有,生,老死,十二種人生狀態,稱十二因緣。若要消除生老病死憂悲苦惱,一切從無明開始,如果把無明滅,行、識滅,識滅就是名色滅,名色滅就六入滅,六入一滅就觸滅,觸滅便受滅,受滅是愛滅,愛滅是取滅,取滅是有滅,有滅是生滅,生滅是老死憂悲苦惱滅。無明一旦滅了,行就不會起來了。行一滅,什麼都沒有了,分別都沒有了,識滅就是名色滅,六入一滅,是觸滅,受滅,愛滅,取滅,有滅,生老死苦惱皆滅了。
The process of reincarnation in the human realm includes ignorance, action, consciousness, name and form, the six entrances, contact, feeling, love, grasping, existence, birth, old age and death. The twelve states of life are called the twelve causal conditions.
If you want to eliminate birth, old age, sickness, death, sad, sorrow, and distress, everything starts from ignorance. If ignorance is eliminated, formation and consciousness are eliminated, and consciousness is eliminated. When name and form are eliminated, the six-entrances are eliminated. When the six-entrances are eliminated, contact is eliminated, and contact is eliminated, the feeling is eliminated, the cessation of feeling is the cessation of love, the cessation of love is the cessation of taking, the cessation of taking is the cessation of being, the cessation of being is the cessation of birth, and the cessation of birth is the cessation of old age, death, sad, sorrow and distress.
Once ignorance is eliminated, karma will not arise. The cessation of formations means nothing, the cessation of distinctions, the cessation of consciousness is the cessation of name and form, the cessation of the six sense organs, the cessation of contact, the cessation of feelings, the cessation of love, the cessation of clinging, the cessation of existence, the cessation of birth, old age, death, and afflictions.
今日我們得知無明確實是一種累贅,因為它是一種煩惱,而這種煩惱無處不在。人往往看不清世間上萬事萬物的真相,當境界來的時候,受到自己的業力的障礙,所以往往不去尋求問題癥結所在,而去想一些逃避的方法解決。就像賭徒喜歡在賭場過日子,認為這樣掙錢來得快;年輕時有練精學懶的陋習,不老實學習技藝,導致失去更多的提升的工作機會;從小積懒成笨的孩童,這些都是因為無明障礙的結果。
Today we learn that ignorance is indeed a liability because it is an affliction, and this affliction is everywhere. People often can’t see the truth of everything in the world. When the realm comes, they are hindered by their own karma, so they often don’t seek the crux of the problem, but think of some escape methods to solve it. Just like gamblers like to live in casinos, thinking that they can make money quickly; when they were young, they had the bad habit of being lazy and learning skills dishonestly, which led to the loss of more job opportunities for promotion; children who become lazy and become stupid, these are all It is the result of ignorance.
我們不會做或談論世界上浪費時間的事情和言語。這些通通都是無益,不受用。唯獨念佛、持戒,我們儘量都要花時間去做,多念一分鐘佛就多有一分鐘的好處。積沙成塔,不斷地一步一步向前,這是佛陀的教導。真心為了解決無明的問題,我們才能解決生死輪迴的問題的。
We don’t do or talk about time-wasting things and words in the world. These are all useless. Only chanting Amitabha Buddha and keeping the precepts, we should spend as much time as possible, every minute of chanting Buddha’s name will be beneficial for one more minute. Accumulate sand to form a tower, keep moving forward step by step, this is the teaching of the Buddha. Sincerely in order to solve the problem of ignorance, then we can solve the problem of reincarnation.
